Janice Rae Pariza was born in Youngstown, Ohio, in 1955 and raised in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Nova Scotia and Connecticut. She has been painting since the age of eight. A self taught painter, she supplemented her natural abilities by studying oil painting under Ms. Alice Overhultzer in Canfield, Ohio and later obtaining her Art degree from Youngstown State University. A realist in the medium oil, her subject matter has varied throughout the years. She has expanded into the realm of the Abstract and Impressionism. Extensive travel in the U.S., Mexico, and the Caribbean is reflected in her paintings and photography.

In 1978 she joined the Air Force which took her to San Antonio, Texas and Denver, Colorado with Temporary Duty throughout the West. She earned a Still Photography degree while in the Military and loved her position as Still Photographer for the Air Force Dignities as well as numerous rescue and refueling missions during which she was combat photographer at the beginning of ‘Desert Storm’. The Coastal, Mountain and Historic environments in which she has lived has greatly stimulated her, as can be seen by the subject matter she has chosen to focus upon.

She has recently reincarnated her creative atmosphere between two loves, Oil Painting and Photography. West Middlesex, Pennsylvania is where she chose to retire in 2002, among the Amish Farmers and rolling countryside. There she has a home and Art Studio nestled near the scenery and wildlife which has created a new dimension of paintings. She describes herself as a 'Contemporary Colorist' and is thrilled to offer affordable, high quality, pure visionary & Original Oil Paintings directly from her Studio. Her Paintings can be found displayed in her Pennsylvania Gallery, HeadWest Art.

A perspective of the artist in her own words
"As far back as I can remember I was always painting."
"I want each of my paintings to create the mood and intensity what I felt while photographing and painting them. The public reaction to my art shows that I am doing just that."
"I spend a great deal of time observing and enjoying the diverse cities and small towns in which I have lived along life’s journey. I love traveling to other areas in order to study and photograph the landscape and wildlife. I feel this is deeply important in expanding my capabilities as an artist,
a person and a believer in God, the Master of my eyes and hands."
